| We are the largest backcare & seating outlet in Australia and been operating for over 20 years. Our business model is based on ensuring we provide the very best products for our clients. This has necessitated us having to do our own research and development and also manufacturing in some key areas. |
Our Australian based business over the last 20 years has developed into a global business with some of our key products manufactured and licenced in over 15 countries. We are strongly focused on ensuring that we can offer knowledge in product selection for our customers.
Our products now are being sold and/or manufactured in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, Canada, USA, China and Hongkong. We conduct all our research and development in Australia but work closely with our partners in Scandinavia and Canada to improve on product design and function.

| CEO & FOUNDER |
Our founder is Kumar Rajaratnam and is better known as a "Biomechanical Design Engineer" despite being a qualified Physiotherapist, Orthotist and Prosthetist. After 10 years of Australian university study and scholarships, he decided on a career of designing and producing biomechanically designed seating and ergonomic products. This lead him to starting up Backcare & Seating some 20 years ago. The emphasis in ergonomic excellence still drives the business model.
He also has strong relationships both in Australia and internationally with leaders in the allied health profession that help him to develop and share educational and research literature in the field of backcare, seating, bedding and ergonomics. He brings this knowledge to the Backcare & Seating group and is constantly looking at objective science in all product design and function.

| "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give" Winston Churchill 1874 - 1965 |
| This ethos has been the foundation cornerstone of our business operation. This extends to our business ethics and we try to instil this in our licensees. Over the last 15 years, we have donated a substantial part of corporate profits towards a variety of community and charitable causes. This is done without seeking any recognition, advertising or favours that would benefit us in any way. Some of the beneficiaries of these proceeds include: |
Starlight Foundation |
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre |
The Cancer Council |
The Salvation Army |
The Yooralla Society |
Various overseas charities including refugee and earthquake relief projects |
We have extended this as a perpetual obligation via our registered charity, Kurum Charitable Foundation. Our ethos is that by being able to operate businesses ethically and make a fair profit, we can distribute it to those that can assist others. We are strong believers that businesses have an obligation not just to shareholders and stakeholders but to the community at large.

| Backcare & Seating has a long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility. How we define this responsibility changes as new products are introduced and is an evolving process. Our products are complex and have a variety of environmental impact and we continually strive to ensure that we reduce our environmental footprint by what we produce, sell and consume to run our businesses. Some of our efforts include: |
Producing own own products that uses plastic limited to those that produce no adverse environmental effects. Including plastics with low or no emissions and with fully recycable components. |
Offer recycle product information to customers. |
Limit the use of painted products and or components. |
Use environmentally friendly solutions that don`t use toxic chemicals and colouring agents for product presentation and cleaning. |
Encourage our suppliers to use environmentally friendly packaging. |
Ask our customers to leave behind packaging so we can recyle these with our suppliers. |
Use energy efficient products in our organisation. |
Use recycled consumables |
